China says U.S. accusations in arms control report "not worth refuting"

"This is puzzling white with dark. The blameworthy party is moving the fault onto the guiltless," said a representative for China's Foreign Ministry in light of a report discharged by the U.S., blaming China for not agreeing to duties to suspending atomic testing and to non-expansion.

BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) - A Chinese Foreign Ministry representative said Thursday that allegations against China made in a U.S. report were unfounded and not worth discrediting.

Representative Zhao Lijian offered the comments after the U.S. State Department discharged an official rundown of the 2020 Arms Control Compliance Report Wednesday, blaming China for not conforming to responsibilities to suspending atomic testing and to non-multiplication, and scrutinizing China's report on its execution of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC).

Situating itself as an appointed authority and model, the United States has continued composing the supposed yearly "arms control consistence report" lately, in which it sticks its nose into other nations' arms control and non-multiplication approaches and measures, Zhao told a press preparation.

"This is bewildering white with dark. The liable party is moving the fault onto the guiltless," he said.

The Chinese side accepts that as significant columns for keeping up global harmony, security and steadiness, pertinent arrangements and instruments in arms control, non-multiplication ought to be watched and executed, Zhao said.

He focused on that China, with its sincere satisfaction of worldwide commitments, strong duty to multilateralism and dynamic support in universal collaboration, has made significant commitments to worldwide arms control and non-expansion frameworks, just as worldwide harmony and security.

Conversely, the United States has followed the guideline of "America First," broken understandings and pulled back from multilateral components as of late, Zhao said.

For instance, the United States has pulled out the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and the Arms Trade Treaty. In the mean time, it blocked dealings for a convention with a check system of the BWC, neglected to finish the obliteration of its accumulated substance weapons, and proposed to extend its military powers in an inside and out manner.

These activities, which genuinely undermined worldwide vital parity and strength and frustrated global arms control and demobilization forms, are censured by the universal network, Zhao stated, asking the U.S. side to ponder itself and quit pointing fingers.
